This is a beautiful book for horse lovers, a subscribers' edition published privately in 1938 by Gale & Polden. There are 79 colour and black and white tipped in illustrations by Gilbert Holiday, showing the British mounted forces at ceremonial, showground, sporting and at war, with particular emphasis on the Royal Artillery and the Royal Horse Artillery. Holiday served in the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front in the First World War.
The grey cloth book has a rare paper dust jacket, which has some damage. There are signs of age and spotting to the card pages. Despite this, this is a lovely old dedication to Army horses.
