A very good original WW2 cap badge and back-badge issued to the Gloucestershire Regiment who existed from 1896 to 1958. The back-badge was awarded to the Regiment as a distinction for fighting the French army at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801. They fought 'back to back' and as a result, are allowed to wear this small badge on the back of their head-dress. This is the only British Regiment to do so.
Both badges are in excellent condition and have lugs on the reverse.
